“Hollywood is a place where they pay you a thousand dollars for a kiss and fifty cents for your soul”. — Marilyn Monroe
If you visit Classic Cinema Gold very often, over time, you will figure out Marilyn Monroe is one of my favorite subjects. Not her movies so much, as her life is what interests me. She was, and is, one of those people whom everyone knows who you are talking about when you mention their first name only. Marilyn!! From her childhood to her tragic death in 1962, no woman in cinema history was ever more photographed or captured the imagination of movie goers and non movie goers alike as Marilyn did. Immortalized in Elton John’s tribute, “A Candle In The Wind”. Hated, loved, talked about, watched, beguiled, used, lusted after, and photographed endlessly, Marilyn Monroe is an American Icon.
“I don’t mind living in a man’s world as long as I can be a woman in it.”– Marilyn Monroe
